A varied 3 weeks self-drive full of adventure through Uganda and Kenya.  This trip includes bookings for National Parks in Kenya and Uganda. It is also perfect for adventurous travelers who like the main part and the accommodations booked in advance. All our vehicles include cross border permits for a multi-country 4WD self-drive holiday.

The Kenya and Uganda tour aims to introduce you to the top attractions of these two magnificent Countries. Of course, you won’t see everything that Kenya and Uganda have to offer but it is a great start, and a good way to get to know the lay of the land. Kenya is a beautiful, un-spoilt country of memorable extremes.

So, if you want to enjoy yourself, book your car rental with 4×4 Car Hire Uganda because they have one of the best safari cars. Of course, I booked a Land Cruiser pop up rooftop tent vehicle. If you frequently go camping during long road trips, a rooftop tent is a game-changing upgrade. The journey to Maasai Mara was great and I would stop at different sceneries for photo shoot e.g. Great Rift Valley view point and at rest stops.

I arrived in time for lunch then had an afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa.

As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras, and attendant predators. We slept at Tented Bush Camp just outside the Masai Mara National Park.

I got an early morning start and drove to Amboseli National Park. In the afternoon I got on a game drive. Amboseli National Park is situated due south of Nairobi – most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland, while in the southern area there is a number of small, rocky, volcanic hills. Around the swamps Ol Kenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms.

Rising early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit with lunch provided for yourself, an optional visit to a Masai village can be planned after breakfast. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A visit into their homes and social structure is a great experience.

Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is possibly the best wildlife area in the whole of Africa to experience elephants at close range. Less harassed by poachers, elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps will form the highlights of any safari.

From Kenya I drove to Uganda the Pearl of Africa and I visited national parks including Murchison Falls, chimp tracking, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi Forest for gorilla trekking and everything from making my reservation, and being guided by Emma from 4×4 Car Hire Uganda until the end of the tour was just simply amazing, I had lots of fun and beautiful memories to cherish for life.

I highly recommend this company 4×4 Car Hire Uganda for car rental services! Will surely come back!

The highlights of this Murchison Falls National Park included; the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeests, buffalo, and elephants. Then surely you will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles here. For birders, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird species including the elusive shoe bill stork, dwarf king fisher, the white-thigh horn bill, and the Goliath heron among others.

Go chimp trekking in Budongo Forest Reserve. Budongo is astonishingly bio-diverse, with 24 mammal species, over 360 birds, 289 butterflies and 465 plants. Budongo is also known for its primate population, which includes around 800 chimpanzees. After breakfast, you will be driven through the Ugandan countryside which alone is worth a trip as you go for chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest.

Also, look out for other primates like the black and white Colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons and grey-cheeked mangabeys. With over 360 bird species, you will have an absolute bird-sighting experience while here.

After your chimp experience, you will return to the camp for lunch and relax, probably enjoying the sounds and sights of the area. Else, you may opt to take a nature walk to feel the beauty of the forest firsthand.

I head to Queen Elizabeth National Park but I got a stopover at Fort Portal town for a night then I continued to Queen and drove up to Mweya while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of beautiful craters and lakes dotted across the lush landscape. I got to my accommodation in the late afternoon, and spent the rest of the evening enjoying the beautiful nature across the park.

I woke up to an early cup of coffee at 6.00 am and set out for an early game drive. Games to see include lions, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas, Kobs, and topi. The scenery is amazing with crater lakes and grassy hills. After close to three hours, I returned to the lodge for breakfast. After lunch, I set out for the boat safari on the Kazinga Channel that joins Lakes Edward and George.

The channel attracts a plethora of wildlife including hippos, buffaloes, elephants, monitor lizards and lots of water birds and wonderful scenery. Dinner and your overnight stay are at my accommodation.

I woke up to an early breakfast, I checked out of the accommodation and traveled to the southern area of the park called Ishasha. This area is popular for tree-climbing lions, and if you’re lucky, you may see them.

Other big game in this area includes elephants, topi, and buffaloes among others. I took my lunch at Ishasha Wilderness Camp. Thereafter, I traveled southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check-in at the camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

I woke up to an early breakfast at 6.30 am, I had my lunch prepared and I transferred to the park offices for a briefing by the rangers. You’ll be assigned a gorilla group you shall track. At 8:00 am transfer to the start of the trek and head into the forest to find the mountain gorillas.

You are allowed no more than an hour with them, then return to meet your car. Return to the camp for a snack, freshen up and then visit the local Batwa community to see the indigenous ways of live. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxation.

Experience and get to your accommodation in time for lunch. After lunch, relax for a bit then go for a canoe ride on one of the deepest lakes in the world. You can choose to ride the canoe yourself or use a guide to ride you. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay. The next day travel back to Entebbe.
